Outreach Department

The outreach department serves as the liaison between the Undergraduate Student Government and the student body. Our goal is to make the Undergraduate Student Government as transparent as possible by connecting our ideals and services to all organizations and students at the Tempe campus. We encourage anyone seeking additional information about student government and our services offered to come up to the third floor of the Memorial Union. We are also dedicated to making sure that International Students feel welcome here at Arizona State University. We have interns that speak all of the major languages, and they act as the liaisons between USG and the international coalitions. We plan monthly workshops for international students, and we will be putting on a wide-scale event for them in the spring.

Current Update

“I have been busy working on USG’s pitchfork awards and will be turning them in tomorrow Wednesday January 30th. My interns are editing them as we speak, and Jeremy even helped write one of them. Our USG roundtable event is February 5th at 7:00pm at Bad Mother Cluckers. We currently are waiting for more organizations to register but I am not worried. Kirsten and I will talk about USG updates as well as inform the organizations about Sun Devils Count. If you know of any organization that should definitely be there please let me know and I will personally reach out to them.”

Final 2012 Update

“Unfortunately the Sendeks rescheduled on Garrett and I so we will be going out to eat either this week or the next week. My interns have been getting a lot more responses from organizations which great!. Taylor Mcglone (although not my intern) set up a meeting with Entrepreneurs at ASU which went splendidly. Hopefully this week we will have at least one or two more meetings with organizations. I am also looking into setting up a roundtable session.”

Week of October 29th, 2012

“Last week, I continued contacting organizations. I will be going to the Business Student Council on October 8th with one of my interns Garrett Nebeker. I actually started a program with my interns where they must contact 5 organizations every week and attempt to speak and meet with them. The other major task that my interns and I are working on is creating or utilizing a ASU wide event calendar. We understand that Sun Devil Count will act somewhat as this, but we feel that it would still be beneficial. Let me know if there is anything else I can do for any of you!”

“I am very excited that everything in USG is starting to pick up. The amount that has already been accomplished is astonishing and I look forward to telling all of the clubs about our progress. This past Friday, I attended GPSA’s Second General Assembly. Vice Provost Barry Richie spoke at the meeting and talked about ASU’s accreditation process. The link to the website with the re-accreditation is http://hlc2013.asu.edu/ . I spoke about all of USG’s programs and updated them on all things USG. They were thrilled that we showed up and I told them I plan on going to all of their meetings. Today I sent out an email to certain organizations about the $ 10 Million Dollar Tour Stop as well. I have a meeting with the Buisness Student Council Friday so I am looking forward to that. Other than that, I am just continuing to reach out to orbs.”

Week of September 10th, 2012

Last week I completed the database for all of the clubs and organizations with their coinciding groupings. This week, I plan on using this database to contact organizations to talk about Sun Devils Count. I need to sit down with Mark to discuss possible times for such a large/significant meeting. In addition, this week I will try to set up a meeting with the international organizations to discuss possible events for this semester and potential involvement in Sun Devils’ on Mill. Let me know if there is anything else that I can work on.

Week of September 3rd, 2012

This week I will be continuing to database and sort every organization with their emails. Based on the amount of events they throw and the amount of students that can go to them, I will categorize their importance to Devils Count. In addition to this tedious but important task I will continue to reach out to international organizations for Devils on Mill. Lastly, I received an email from Mark concerning an opportunity to work with a Mesa high school. I look forward to looking into that as well.
